Urinary Tract Infection Causes

They most common urinary tract infection causes are from the E coli bacteria that lives in and around the rectum. This bacteria has ways of entering your urethra, and then the E coli clings to the walls of your urinary tract, and will make it's way to your kidneys if it isn't removed in time.

Sexual intercourse

Sexual intercourse is one of the major urinary tract infection causes because the bacteria around the vagina can be massaged into the urethra. A way to prevent a UTIs after sexual intercourse is to urinate straight afterwards. This helps to flush out the bacteria before it gets a chance to cling onto the walls of your urethra.

After visiting the bathroom

After visiting the bathroom you should wipe from front to back. This prevents any bacteria being pushed from the rectum area to your urethra. Some women suffer from chronic bladder infections for along time because they don't realize that it's something they are doing every day that is encouraging the bacteria to move nearer to their urethra.

Avoiding the need to urinate

One of the unrecognized urinary tract infection causes is avoiding the need to urinate. Doing this will weaken the bladder over time, and then it doesn't empty properly. The small amount of urine that is always left in the bladder increases the chances of bacteria forming which then causes an infection.

Flushing the toilet

Flushing the toilet when you're sitting on it can cause bacteria in the bowl to splash up to your urethra. Some women do give the toilet a courtesy flush when the sit down. This is not a good thing to do, especially on a public toilet.

Antibiotics use

If you've used antibiotics a lot in the past then you could be suffering from a weakened immune system. Your immune system can help fight off bacterial infections so you're less likely to suffer form a urinary tract infection.

Chronic urinary tract infections

If you suffer from chronic urinary tract infections, and you don't see your cause above then you can avoid the use of antibiotics every time you get an infection. Antibiotics use makes chronic UTIs worse so more women now use a natural treatment so they don't cause any further damage to their immune system.
