Can Miconazole Cause A Yeast Infection

Can miconazole cause a yeast infection? If used incorrectly, miconazole ( the active ingredient in anti fungal creams and suppositories ) can cause a yeast infection, and also make an infection you already have, worse. Miconazole can be purchased over the counter, but that doesn't make it safe to use any time you think you need to. This is a very dangerous drug that can cause resistant yeast infections if you're not careful.

Seeing your doctor first

Before you use any anti fungal drugs for a vaginal infection it's important that you see your doctor first. Only your doctor can give you a correct diagnosis, and then inform you of what treatment to use, and how you should use it.

Why can miconazole cause a yeast infection

The yeast that mutates into a fungus that cause yeast infections lives naturally in your vagina. It is kept under control by friendly bacteria. If you don't have a yeast infection and you apply an anti fungal cream that contains miconazole then the yeast will start to mutate. Not only that, but because you don't have a yeast infection you'll use the treatment for the wrong amount of time, and the fungus that is left will become resistant.

If you're using a 7 day treatment and it takes the first 3 days for the yeast to mutate then you're only really treating the yeast infection that you have caused for 4 days. This will leave fungus in your vagina, and this fungus will become resistant. This is why miconazole causes yeast infections

If you have caused a resistant yeast infection

If you have caused a drug resistant yeast infection then you need to start treating your infection naturally as more drugs will make the fungus stronger. For more information on the most successful natural yeast cure visit Sarah Summer's Natural Remedy For Yeast Infections.
